Review   Giant Halo 2 - 2009

Note! The 2009 Australian model of this bike is called Halo 2 RRP is $1095.00

In the latest issue of Mountain Bike Action (July 2008) the editors decided to put 5 bikes to this test: "Our goal was to see what a rider with an $800 budget could attack the trail with." So the bikes they chose were the Giant Yukon FX, the GT Peach 9R Multi, the Marin Alpine Trail 3X, the Norco Rival, and the Trek 6000. So let's get to the last page, titled "How They Stacked Up: One winner and four second places." "FIRST PLACE -- GIANT YUKON. This was the easy part," say the editors. "The Giant is by far the most versatile of the bunch. It provides a fantastic trail riding experience by doing everything in an accomplished manner. Climbing, cornering, descending and just riding along, the Yukon delivers. If you only want one bike in the garage, it should be the Yukon."

The article continues, "We were surprised-no, shocked-with the ride quality of this inexpensive dually." "Hitting the trail and powering up climbs alleviated our fears. The Yukon motors!" "On the trail where it matters, the Yukon feels light and energetic…Descending is fun, and the Yukon begs you to rail the corners." "We were stunned, amazed and, well, blown away by the performance of the Yukon." "If you have shied away from dual suspension because you believed (in most cases correctly) that you couldn't get quality suspension performance within your budget, the Giant Yukon opens the door for you to go dually." "The Giant Yukon was easily the most versatile bike of the group, and that is what gave it the winning advantage."
