New to the game after spending many years of my youth on a BMX Bike. I worried whether a hybrid was a good idea or should I go for a MTB. After deciding that I would not venture any further than the toughest rail trail I decided this type of bike was best suited.
I test rode the Giant OC3 first to get a feel of whether I wanted to go with a road bike or not. I went down the street and could feel every minor crack or pavement surface in my back, hands and head. I then rode a CRX flat bar road bike which was much better but I still felt like I was riding road bike. I Rode the Cypress next and instantly fell in love with the ride. The bike handled well and traveled over pavement, gravel and grass smoothly and effortlessly utilizing the suspension fork and seat pole. The brakes were also smooth and the gear shifts as well.
Strengths
Great handling and smooth ride over all types of terrain. Surprisingly fast and not a hint of sluggishness. Problem free gear shifting and Bike looks fantastic. Rides just as good than bikes costing twice as much.
Weaknesses
Plastic pedals so I upgraded to pair of giant toe and strap alloy pedals
