I do! I’m sorry, but I have a total carbon fibre obsession! My bike is carbon, down to my bottle cages which are also of course carbon. The only thing I don’t get is carbon saddles! Something wrong there I’m afraid although I do probably have enough padding in the area to use one!

So when Monica handed me one of the first pairs of Carbon shorts off the production line to test out as you can imagine I came over all light headed!

Ok so GIMMIK is the first thing some journalist said to me at EuroBike, but no, it’s not carbon for carbons sake! Carbon to follow the trend of modern bicycles, it is a legitimate functional application of modern technology!

The first impression is that these are THE singularly most comfortable shorts you will ever pull on. The fabric is so light and comfortable that it feels like your wearing the emperors new shorts..... (you know the story? Emperor wants new clothes, they convince him he’s wearing clothes when in fact he’s naked etc etc!) As with any top end short once you are on your bike the performance cut shines through, that means that they are designed to be worn in the tuck riding postion. Again once on the bike you notice the compression properties of the material, I’ll give you proper technical details at the end, but the new anatomic twist gel chamois is just, how can I say it........devine? An exotic word for what I think is one of the best and most technically advanced products we have produced for some time. Don’t get me wrong I have our Bib-shorts with every padding we produce and all of our paddings are fantastic, but for someone looking for a really high end, top of the range Italian sports car level of shorts then these are the babies for them!

Technical details.

Lycra carbon 4% polyamide 96%.

special fibers that absorb and dissapate electric charges. They are hypo-allergenic and they shield the body from harmful UV rays.

GIA padding. Gel intech anatomic with no stitching in contact with the skin. The new GIA is produced in the shape it takes in the shorts to prevent any possible bunching around the inside of the legs.
